Home Birth Package - FRee of charge HSE service

The HSE offer a home birth service free of charge and I am contracted by them to provide the service for women who want to give birth in the safety and comfort of their own homes.

This service is a combined care service between your midwife, your GP and the hospital where you would go for your anatomy and/or dating scans. On this service you are entitled to five antenatal visits, attendance for the birth and up to five post-natal visits.

The antenatal visits are used to educate, support, monitor and help prepare for the birth. The postnatal visits help new mothers and their babies get the best possible start together.

For the birth itself, you have many options including a water birth. These options will be discussed in detail during your ante-natal visits and you will be supported in making a birth plan that suits you.

Once the post-natal visits are completed, your care will be handed over to the local community public health nurse.

For those who wish to avail of private health insurance, alternative packages are available.
